Well-I did it. I, along with 11 coworkers, demolished the Red Rock Relay. 186 miles of hills, dirt, heat, beauty, and pain between Cedar City and Zion's National Park.
It started early Friday morning with the crisp air of Brian Head Resort nipping at our toes. The Snow team (my team)ran our legs through the beauty of the surrounding mountains. The beauty of these mountains does not come without a cost. If you go down, you MUST go up, and believe me-the hills were BEASTLY. I was not expecting a steep 1.5 mile 500' incline, or the thin air, and I just about died on the side of the road. I can't believe I made it on my first leg-the human body can do things that many minds would deem impossible!
After the Snow team ran 30 miles, we gladly passed the baton onto the Sun Team and enjoyed the thought of their pain in accordance with our new found rest and relaxation. It did not last for long-the Sun team averaged 7-8 minute miles throughout the race.
My next legs were so much easier that my first. A bit of uphill and a lot of flat/downhill. I was loving it! Scott ran my second leg with me because it was in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere. It would have been so scary without him. Thanks for the support Scotty Boy!
Anyways-15 personal miles later and 186 team miles later, we are done! It was an amazing experience. To complete something that I am so not cut out for is a huge accomplishment. Go Team BlenderBottle! We rocked it. 186 miles. 29 hours. No problem!
That sounds like fun. I would love to do that someday!
