Bo's birth

I was not expecting baby Bo to join us until my induction date, November 29th, because I was feeling so great, and he seemed super comfy in my tummy. Well, I was wrong. Here is the story of the day(s) that changed our life and family forever:

On Thanksgiving morning at 4 am, I woke up with a wet feeling in my undies. I was not sure if my water broke, or if little Bo had kicked my bladder, causing an embarrassing accident. I woke Scott up and told him of my dilemma. He told me that it was all part of the process, and rolled over and fell back to sleep. I later found out that he was asleep the entire time, and that he does not recall this conversation at all.

After this little incident, I tried to fall back to sleep, but started having contractions. This is the first time I felt any contractions. They were mild and 7-10 minutes apart. The contractions lasted until around 7 am, and then stopped, so I fell back asleep. When we woke up, we went on a walk, started prepping our Thanksgiving meal, and made a delicious breakfast of French toast with homemade buttermilk syrup. Yummm! I would stop every ten minutes or so throughout the day, and breath through a contraction, but then everything would go back to normal, so I didn't think much of it.

To be cautious, I called my doctor and explained my symptoms. He said that it sounded like I had had an accident, and that everything should be fine, but if I wanted to be sure, I would need to go to labor and delivery. Well, as it was Thanksgiving, I really didn't feel like making a trip to the hospital, so I decided against it.

Now, fast forward to 7 pm, after a long day of baking and enjoying our amzing Thanksgiving meal (pictured above). I finally sat down at the kitchen table and felt a big rush of leakage- this is when I knew that my water really had broken. I told Scott, and we decided to go get things checked out at a hospital nearby. Sure enough, my water had broken, and I was ready to have our baby! We rushed to the American Fork hospital and they induced my contractions, because my water had broken so early in the day. Shortly thereafter, I got an epidural (awesome) and Scott and I snoozed through the night as much as possible.

At 8:00 am the next morning, the nurse told me that I was dilated to a 10, and asked if I was ready to push. I suddenly panicked, and told her, no, I wasn't quite ready. She looked at me kind of funny, and told me that I was ready and that I was going to be meeting our little boy very soon.

Little Bo was posterior, which made pushing quite a long adventure. 1.5 hours after my first push, little Bo came into this world and into my arms. This was a magical, wonderful, amazing, spiritual, fabulous experience-it was hard to believe that he was finally here and ours for the keeping. What a HUGE blessing he is.

Through this experience, I have felt so strongly that Heavenly Father knows us individually. He knows of our needs and our wants, but most of all, he knows what us best for us. Bo is the perfect addition to our family-oh how we love him.
