Today we made our way from Rome to Florence. I have been to Florence before, but it was Scott’s first visit. I loved Florence so much today-Scott makes everything entertaining! Florence is quite a sight to see, it truly is beautiful.
My biggest regret from my first visit to Florence was not seeing The David. I made sure that he was in my itinerary this time. The wait really wasn’t bad and The David was phenomenal. We also enjoyed walking around in the Central Market and along the bridges. I bought some pretty scarves (LOVE) and Scott bought a few treats for himself. We loved looking at all the artist work around here-they really whip those pictures out quickly!
For dinner, we asked some locals for a restaurant recommendation. We went to the restaurant, tucked away from all tourist activities and it was quite an experience. Tucked away in a corner of the restaurant, we felt a bit forgotten. Italian customer service is something else, and that is not a good thing. Hah! I ordered spaghetti and Scott ordered a steak. The Italians next to us were having a good time watching me try to eat my long noodle spaghetti. The noodles were not cooperating with my fork and the table was a disaster by the time I was finished. Scott ordered a steak that came with the most amazing potatoes. This food was so much different from anything we might think of as Italian food, my spaghetti didn’t have any red sauce on it and Scott had steak, potatoes, and an arugula salad! So our Italian food was quite authentic and quite good, but we decided to end the night with an Americanized Italian treat-a nutella crepe with a bit scoop of gelato. Yum!
Well, we are headed to Venice tomorrow and both very excited to spend time in another romantic Italian city. It is so much more fun/appropriate to experience these romantic cities with a spouse than 25 giggling girls(No offense girls-study abroad was a dream)!
Ps, there is an Italian man singing outside right now. Love it.
