Tofutti Cuties

Since nursing, I have had to cut 99.7% of dairy out of my diet. When I indulge in deliciousness such as cheeses or ice cream, Mr. Bo gets a tummy ache and gas, and will not sleep. I have decided that Bo's sleep is worth more to me than any bite of food, so I currently do not enjoy any dairy products, with the exception of fat free milk, which is more like water than milk anyways.

Well, as I was falling asleep on Sunday night, I remembered a little "ice cream" treat that I enjoyed while growing up in Arcata. It looks like ice cream, it tastes sort of like ice cream, and it even smells like ice cream, but it is made with tofu. I was so excited to head over to Whole Foods and pick up a box of these delightful treats.

They are not super amazing, and in no way do they replace the void in my life from my favorite treat of all time (Nielsen's Frozen Custard), but for now they will suffice.

  2. Ali- since this post is all about strange food...well kinda...I decided I would finally answer your text- YES! Salt is the only topping for grapefruit and oh man is it good! And I was just reminising the other day about our good old "Pudding and Peanuts." And I have you to thank for all kinds of fun additions to my diet! Love ya!!!

  3. I am lactose intolerant, so if you want I can give you lots of dairy free options! Ice cream made from coconut milk is actually really good. They also have rice-based ice cream, but I like the coconut better. They have fudgecicles (sp?), toffee bars, chocolate chip ice cream, etc. Oh and things like oreos are made with fake stuff so they are dairy free too haha. Let me know if you want any other ideas! Good luck!
